BETTY’S ESTATE--A love affair between two police officers turned sour early Thursday and resulted in one officer reportedly firing at least one gunshot at the home of his paramour.
Details about the incident are sketchy, but Police Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Windward Islands Richard Panneflek confirmed that there had been an incident involving male Detective C. and female Patrol Officer P. He also confirmed that no one had been injured.

According to well-placed sources, C. stood outside the home and opened fire with his gun. At least one bullet punctured the front door. Whether the police had been summoned to the scene by P. or neighbours had 911 could not be confirmed, but it is understood that following the incident P. spent the remainder of the morning at the Philipsburg police station, apparently for security reasons.
It is also understood that C. was held for questioning, but was later released after all his firearms had been confiscated.
C.’s release has reportedly left several of his police officer colleagues furious. They contend that by law the incident should be considered attempted murder and C. should have been held in custody.
Panneflek disclosed very little about the incident, at a press briefing at the Philipsburg police station Thursday afternoon. He said he could not give any details as the incident was still under investigation. He said all the relevant authorities had been briefed and the matter had been referred to the Attorney General.
